If his name is Frank Mir I'm guessing that the symbol means either Frank... or Mir.

Or it could be something completely cool and hipster like, 'Water.'

I wouldn't bother with japanese symbols. They're slowly becoming really boring and redundant.
I'd go for something original, like a tattoo of a ninja turtle... on your nose.
