The Sandy Bridge K series chips are overclocking champs. They can get to at least 4.5 GHZ with a Hyper 212. Also, your motherboard may have a built in ''OC'' button. It's good for beginners, but most of the time they go conservative. It's always best to manually OC since not every chip will be the same. There are many Youtube how to's as well. Very easy.

RAM speeds mean almost nothing in real world apps. You'll only see the difference in benchmarks. Buying RAM that is over 1600 MHZ is a complete waste. You could even OC the ram yourself.
