What are auroras really caused by, and why are they mostly visible from places such as Alaska, or places with a small population.

The Sun's magnetic field throws charged particles from its atmosphere out into space. As these particles near the Earth they are pulled in by its magnetic field, which pulls them down to the magnetic poles. Before they can reach the Earth, the charged particles hit the Earth's atmosphere and collide with the gases found there. The reaction between those particles and the gases creates energy, and the energy is given off as light - the Northern Lights.

To be more specific of what is said above:
Auroras are caused by the bombardment of solar electrons on oxygen and nitrogen atoms. The electrons literally stimulate the oxygen and nitrogen atoms high in the atmosphere to create what we know as an aurora.
They are seen from those places because it is near the polar regions.
I don't understand how this is really a conspiracy?
