The fourteenth General Discussion debate. Rules are the same as the previous, but for new people here they are:

  • Do not flame others for their opinions.
  • Thumbs up or thumbs down other users posts if you agree or disagree respectively.

I will give a rep reward to the person with the highest amount of thumb's up, and to the answer I personally like the most, so be sure to think long and make your answer thorough, voting down does nothing.

So the question of the day: Should there be stricter rules on underage gaming?

We have all seen the familiar icons and labels on the back of game cases and at the end of commercials telling us what we should expect from a game. So the question is should there be any enforcement to it, or is it fine as it is now? Some people are more mature at 12 then any 30 year old has ever been and as it sits now, they only serve as a guideline for parents to decide whether or not this is something they want for their kids to play. Should all stores be required to ID someone before they buy a game, should those store owners who give M rated games to kids be punished?

If you have suggestions for future topics of debate then send a PM titled "GD topic" or something along those lines. Keep in mind the topics must pertain to video games.

I don't think there should be stricter rules for underage gaming! But maybe for people who are like 8 playing Call of Duty. Yet their still better than me D:

Yes, there are definately should.

I have seen evidance of kids walking on the street talking about Call of Duty and pretending to shoot guns. And I am not blaming the kid. I am blaming the parent. These parents these days just see anything and if the kids want it they buy it. And what the EMPLOYEES need to do is say one thing that will change the parents minds, " It is an equivilent of a rated R movie."

Im sure in the future there will be better things that will be done.

There is really 2 points to this.

1) If it was cracked down on 17+ games could be more enjoyable for the older gamer. ( teen & E etc )

2) Mature rated games would have WAY less players, and could be harder to find a game.

The "underage gamer" should have limits but then it could effect multiplayer games.
Personally I don't mind the younger gamers as they don't bother me often
( Just think, Do they bother you?)

I think there should as i hear lots of people on xbox, that sound about 12 years old and i'm like WTF! they shouldent even be on xbox.Same goes with call of duty there is a age limit for a reason and not many people follow it.But i do think something needs to happen about that, they should be a lot stricter! And to be honest i really blame the parents as there children are playing on xbox live, which the age limit is 13 and there is 10 year olds on xbox. Its really stupid.

I dont think they should make the rules stricter. kids will just get their old siblings to go and buy that stuff for them. Its no worse then watching an R rated movie with their dad. If they made the age limit more strict then they would lose lots of sales.

I think that the rules are fine as they are. As long as their parents buy the games, and agree to let them play, why should we disagree?

TBH.... Stricter Age on Video Games is good and will eliminate the 12 and under kids from going lets say online and screaming in their mic and trying to act cool you know what I mean? They would cease attention for no reason apperantly.

Then again I wouldn't want this because please don't take this offensive Lol. I like to mess around with underaged kids who buy a game that is 17+ like 5 years older then them so they can see it's not right for them as I toy around with them in a (Lol)caring manner.

And then again...I really don't care as it's ok for me to just mute them or do whatever to get around them in a game. As long as their guardian or parent agree on them getting it I have no problem.
