It's pretty boring to be honest, just some text over a image of Google.
What I like to do when I'm making avatars is start off with a empty black canvas (150px X 150px). Add a light source, (top, dead center, bottom, whatever) by using a 0px soft brush, and set the opacity down to about 20-30 percent. Then, add some text and mess around with the blending options alot until you find what you like. Add a 1px stroke around the whole thing, and you're done. There's SO much more you can do, this is just a one of the ways I like to start off avatars/signatures.
