If you're buying it for the sole purpose of gaming then I'd lower my budget to around $90 USD, and even that's pushing it IMO.

This will require a couple of different things to work properly. This will give you a mic input over USB, and headphone out using the PS3's component out. This is a very similar setup to what I am running with my own PS3!

This adapter or something that does the same thing will let you use headphones with the component out of the PS3. Enable audio multi-out in sound settings to output to this as well as HDMI, which I assume you're using. If not, HDMI cables are extremely cheap at well under $1 US per foot. Any more, and it's overpriced. There's no quality difference between a $100 cable and a $1 cable since it's purely a digital signal. If anyone tries to tell you otherwise, they're delusional and/or Monster Cable reps. Here's an example of what you should get, a female RCA to female 3.5 mm stereo jack. Make sure it is 3.5 mm stereo! It's very important, especially for gaming.

Headphones. If you can get the Audio Technica AD700, you'll be hard pressed to find a better gaming headphone. They're absolutely legendary for gaming, and outperform any garbage Turtle Beaches, Astros, Trittons, and such for less.

And a mic. Get the Zalman ZM-1 if you can. The performance you get for the price is unbeatable. It's this:

To use the mic properly, I'd get a Griffin iMic. There are cheaper solutions, but this has been confirmed to work with the PS3 and others have had issues.

If I were you, I'd get the Vsonic GR07. Instead of going with something that has a sound that might not be for everyone and you might not be so sure of, I don't think you can go wrong with these. Like their little brother, the GR06, they're neutral and natural-sounding without being lifeless. They're very durable, comfortable, and sound excellent at their price point. The accessories are in a class of their own since the GR07 comes packaged with a BUNCH of different tips (and they're good tips, too), so you're sure to find a fit that you like.
