When the shirt* hits the fan event happens, it being 3rd WW, NWO, zombies etc, it would be wise to own a bug out vehicle.
I actually just bought one. It isn't exactly an average sort of vehicle. It is a deuce and a half, a 2 1/2 ton military cargo truck. It is great especially because of its engine which can run off of all kinds of fuels, besides alcohol based ones. It only cost a measly 2k in cash, which is an excellent price, the truck having 900 hours on it. Anyone with a valid drivers license may own one, no special license needed (unless towing).
I am going to do the following to mine:
-Add a row bench against the left side of the bed with storage space under it
-Weld perimeter fencing across the arches that go over the cargo area. The tarp will lay on top of it
-Weld 1/4 in. thick steel plates where the back of the bench is and on the other side for a bit of extra protection. Usually it is only wood screwed in to metal posts which is not too sturdy.
-Add 360 degrees of lighting, which includes 4 forwards lights (2 facing 12 o'clock, 1 facing 10 1/2 and the other one 1 1/2), 2 on each side and 2 on the back which shine straight towards 6 o'clock. (I found a surplus of these on a government liquidation site)
-Add a loud speaker and a CB radio.
-Additional 50 gal. fuel tank.
-An adjustable trailer hitch (the deuce usually comes with one, this one had it broken off)
I should buy a trailer but that might be out of my budget for a while.
All of these addition cost about 500 USD together, the most expensive being the lights.
I will sell this after I am done with this, I really dont believe I will ever need this but someone paranoid enough might. A price of 7,500 USD as a selling point, I am sure to make a couple extra bucks.
Anyways, does anyone else have a bug out vehicle? Or do you want one (buy mine!)?
