I just called and told them that the 48 hour code wasnt working and everything and that it was from mw3 and that it wasnt working for that game and then we went through some troubleshooting features and i said it still doesnt work so he was kind enough to send me an email with a free 1 month gold code.

You can do the same just make sure you still have the code you redemmed handy so they can check it out.

If it worked with the 1 month it should work with 1600msp. And he probably redeemed it around the time that XBL was freaking out, that's why they gave him MSP.
