Cougar wrote I have recently been thinking about what is our purpose in life. There has to be something behind the bases of why we exist to this day? Some people say it is just the way of nature, but I think there is something more to it, other than religion. We have, evolved so much, but why? Please keep this discussion free from a religious standpoint. (aka God created us all and wants us to live on end of story)

If we live life to the end what happens ? We die.

If we live life to the end, what have we done ? We have fulfilled it.

Our purpose on this planet is not anything else but to die.

If we are born, what is the purpose of being born.

So you ask, what is the purpose of death ?

The purpose of death is to show that you no longer live.

You have lived your life to the full. To the end.

The purpose is,

We are born to die.

If your wandering where that came from ::

I got bored one day, I kept thinking and thinking, I even dreamed about it.

And it finally clicked.

See for yourself !

I'm sure lots of people would disagree with you on that conclusion but there is a flaw in your argument.

If we have fulfilled life but life has no purpose, what have we fulfilled? Nothing.
Therefore if the purpose of death is taking life then it takes nothing, which renders it purposeless.

If death is purposeless then we must have a purpose in order for death to have a purpose.

Ahh well you see, you have kind of confused me but hear me out...

The purpose is the emptiness leading up to death...

Death is the true purpose of life...

If death is not achieved then there is another purpose....

Use a phone for a example...

Its purpose is to text, sms, phone people right ?

What happens if it breaks ? The purpose cannot be met...

Wait now i see what you mean, i dont know its really confusing me now...

The phone analogy doesn't really work considering death cannot be broken. It is an inevitable process.

This might work better:

Assuming the process of Evolution is a fact, it's purpose is to evolve a lifeform.
If there were no lifeforms in existence, without a purpose would evolution still exist?

This is why I disagree with your point about humans having no purpose. If we have no purpose, would we even exist?

I think our purpose was to have everyone build on our lives such as social stuff for example, myans made things which are impossible with our latest technology, and we supposed to live on natural things.

You have to live with all emotions, from beginning family love, then graceful, hateful, Love.

Then we die, and our last emotion is what we will have like astrol projection. For eternity.

Although I don't disagree with what you're saying this isn't a purpose.
A Purpose is a why, not how.
This is how we live, in your opinion. Not why.

Basically their is no way of finding out a purpose it's meaning is 'Infinite', no one can reach infinite possibilities.

We live to die.
We are born to live.

PARADOX.

Purpose is not one thing on its own.
It has to belong to something.
It can only be infinite if the object is infinite.
Human life won't be infinite.

It's only a paradox if you subscribe to that belief.

Some of these replies.. were.. different..
But, what our purpose is would depend on your outlook on religion..Say your a Christian, your purpose would be what's written in the bible..
If your an athiest.. you would be believe that you have no purpose due to the circumstances in which the universe was allegedly created..
