Hey I built my rig not long ago, thanks to you helping me pick the parts, but I was just wondering if I should add a Blu-Ray DVD drive because I've heard some people telling me that they read/write slower than non Blu-Rays, is this true?

Check the RPMs for different media types. And really how important is it? Do you use optical media a lot? Do you plan on actually using Blu-Ray disks?

Well it's not extremely important, it's just I'd like to watch the odd Blu-Ray film now and again.

Sixty bucks for the cheapest one IIRC. Up to you to decide if it's worth it.

Post the day before you plan on ordering.
Unless you specify, r00t won't add Windows 7 into the budget.

Closer to Christmas would be ideal. If you want an idea of what you can get right now (although the guide is for last week, really), check this out:

We don't include legit copies of Windows unless you ask for it. I advocate using a cracked copy, but I can't help you with that on TTG. Outside of the site I could, though.

Since your post in the build forum said all discussion should go here, I will post this here instead.

r00t wrote I don't believe it. Right after I posted that, someone does EXACTLY what I asked them not to. I don't think TTG can handle this topic. I'm strongly consdering a hiatus.

What do you expect in a forum full of 12 year olds who can't follow directions? This topic is pretty helpful to everyone who uses it properly, so why put it on hiatus because of the idiotic actions of some people?

Because even those who do it properly never give me any indication that they actually built the PC. 90% of the time they don't post back, rep, thank, PM, or anything. What's the point in doing these if that's the case? This is a big purchase at any budget. I can't imagine someone NOT reporting back in any way. It's ridiculous. I couldn't care less about thanks or rep, but just a way of letting me know I'm not wasting my time is all I want.

You shouldn't expect anything in return for doing a free service on this site. There are a lot of leechers on this site, so if you are going to start a service, you should do it to help the community. I'm sure a lot of people have repped or thanked you for this service, people here are just too lazy to show their thanks. To be honest, you're being a nice person by offering a service to the community. While the majority of people who post here probably don't follow through with the information you give to them, that's to be expected of any online forum. People want advice on what they may or may not do in the future. I'm confident that there are people who have actually bought the builds you (or another contributor to the topic) gave to them. If helping some people (however small the number of people you actually helped may be) isn't enough, then there's no point and you probably should let someone else take over the thread (instead of putting it on hold/closing it).
