Im looking into getting a GTX 650 (ti) and im wondering whether it will be compatible with my current hardware

My Computer model is Gateway FX 6800-01e

GPU-HD 4850 512mb
CPU-i7 920 @2.67GHz(2.97 Turbo)
Motherboard-Systemboard with Intel X58 Chipset(not really sure just copied from a wiki)
RAM- 3GB DDR3 @1066 Mhz
PSU-450W (shouldnt be a problem since it uses less power than HD 4850)

So if anyone could help provide feedback on whether or not the GTX 650 ( or maybe HD 7770 but Ive heard 650 is better) will be compatible with my Pc

Thanks in advance!

The 650 Ti is in a pretty awkward position right now. It's outclassed by the 7850 and outclasses the 7770, but it's hard to call it a great buy.

Vs. the 7850: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Vs. the 7770: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

It falls almost where it should between them, but not really. And you will more than likely need a new power supply just because of quality and potential lack of connectors.

alright..I would get a new power supply and get the 7850 if it werent for my lack of money at the moment ..If anything I could just get the 7750 as it doesnt need external connectors- do you know if the 7750 would fit my current rig?

That's not going to be as big of an upgrade as you think. It would be best to save up for something that's worth doing.

Yeah, the motherboard should work with any PCI-E card.
