i had this happen wen i got mine i restored mine to factory settings and that fixed it so maybe try that

I try to and it turns off before it even completely turns on now when you mean factory settings you mean the 18 hour one right? Cause I tried it before and it always just turned off after 2%

yes that is what i ment but if urs cant even stay at the mebu it maybe short circiting so u may have to google a shop that fixs ps3s xboxs ect nd bring it in otherwise u may need a new 1....

or maybe safe mode it wont turn off try this Turn off your PlayStation 3
Hold down the power button. The PlayStation should turn on and then turn back off
Once your PlayStation is fully off, hold down your finer on the power button until you hear 2 beeps in sequence
When you hear it stop beeping, take your finger off the button
After this, it will prompt you to plug in your controller and hit the "PS" button
Now the recovery menu should be on your screen keep me updated

I think it could be not getting enough power? Irony know if this makes since but my bros lives in my room too and he hits a ps3 too his runs good and stuff he just passed out and turned his off and it turned on for a little bit I clicked system restore went for a second then my ps3 fans kicked off and ps3 turned off there is a lot plugged in in my room too could that be it

possible maybe try unpluggin g every thing u can nd see how long it lasts

I tried that and it did for a few seconds and bam gone and also I got it on for a bit now I put a disk in and it has fans on then 30 seconds after it fully.on as soon as the fan goes off bam turns off

try to find a cooling unit for cheap see if that helps
