Yeah, you can. I have Photoshop and Microsoft Office, didn't pay a penny.

I completely agree. I brought my 2012 MacBook Pro 13" a few months ago and it's fantastic. I was concerned about the move to iOS, but being familiar with iPods and lately, an iPhone, I picked up how to use it very quickly.
Like I've been told millions of times, I could of got a higher spec PC instead of a Mac, but I had enough money and thought it would last me a long time; which it feels up to the job for sure.

It's a pleasure to use. I will be upgrading the RAM to 8GB RAM, and then possibly an SSD to increase its performance even more.
.... Just to let you know as well, I have downloaded Final Cut Pro X and Logic Pro for free, but be careful of some files, always check the ratings, even though Macs are known for not getting viruses easily.

A Mac lasts a lot longer than other builds in my opinion. I'd never had a problem with absolutely any of my Apple products. These range from iPods Touches, to iPhones, to iPads, you name it. Now if I talk about my issues with other builds, AKA Windows/Custom PCs, the issues are endless.

Macintosh all day.

For aesthetics and good looks and for the casual user Mac is for sure the way to go. It has great looks to it, runs quickly between programs(Smaller ones), and can be used by anyone because of if its great interfaces. On the other hand, Windows, technically speaking, is a much better operating system for more technologically advanced users looking for more customization alongside gaming. The problem in my opinion with Macs is that since everyone gets them pre-build mostly they think it is the best machine alive because it was so expensive and created by Apple but in reality you can build a Desktop PC for a much better price, and these people building PCs almost always have a Windows operating system (Sometimes a Linux based system).

TL:DR Windows is better for more technically sound users, Apple products are those looking for a clean interfaces.

I have made the switch to, But when i do want to record on xbox my hd pvr doesnt work on my macbook, But i have found an elgato capture software that works on mac. Mac and Windows are both good, but mac is more for the business/GFX artist type of guy, which mac suites me best.

Meh. CrapBook pro without retina. 1000$ facebook machine. I bet you always spent money on terrible windows PC's though didn't you. You should get a windows laptop for the same price of the MacBook Pro then review it, because I know damn well windows will exceed the pro, just because of the fact that the pro's are dreadfully outdated. By about 2 years. No SSD. Standard screen, with glossy display (ew). HDD is 5400RPM - which is terribly basic.

The Retina and Air on the other hand, are good. No. Fantastic. Don't get me wrong, Pro's are decent, but not for 1.1k They should be priced at 600, maybe 700 at a push with their current specs.

Yeah, I use Elgato's EyeTV program to run my HD PVR to my MacBook Pro.

I had a few issues trying to configure the settings properly so that it displayed the correct video input.

It works a charm though, a lot better than the default PVR software in my opinion.

I dont understand why people say the Macbook Air and Retina Pro, is way better than the standard pro? Yes the retina has a great screen, and with all its graphics etc its amazing; but it is A LOT more than the normal Pro. As for the Air, its great, yes its thin and light, but it is very expensive. For a decent one, it is more than a macbook pro, not the bargain of the century is it?

My Macbook Pro specs when i upgrade it soon in a few weeks:
- 2.5ghz Duo-Core i5 (Turbo to 3.4ghz)
- 8GB RAM
- 256GB SSD

- This still would be cheaper than a 2012 1.8ghz Macbook Air ...
