I've had this problem before, i'm pretty sure i restarted my console and cleared my system cache.

I've had the same problem multiple times. What I did was I kept it on the USB or HDD whichever one it doesn't corrupt on and play games on it and after a few hours or a day move it again and it shouldn't corrupt.
This worked for me ever time.
Hope it works for you.
And Clearing the Cache does nothing but makes the storage device run faster.
