If you want to get technical about it, we don't touch anything. Rarely do your atoms come into contact with other atoms. It's electron repulsion that makes our nerves think they are touching something.

When you say rarely, you mean never. Atoms NEVER come into contact with other atoms. I could give an extremely detailed explanation, however I'm not sure if anyone actually wants to read that.
