I have a Hp g60 laptop it has a 2gb ram installed (basically all stock parts i haven't upgraded anything yet) When i play games such as minecraft i lag ALOT i get around 15-30 fps. I was wondering if i upgrade my ram to a 4gb (maximum upgrade my computer can handle) what should be the fps upgrade. Also i saw when i run minecraft it maxes out my cpu is this normal or should i upgrade it as well when i upgrade the ram?

List the specs of your PC. Minecraft mainly uses the CPU and RAM, so upgrading from 2 to 4GB of RAM would be a good idea. A CPU upgrade would be a good idea also, but we need to know your CPU socket.

If your CPU is being maxed out before your memory, a RAM upgrade shouldn't improve performance. If your RAM usage is near max, then an upgrade would improve performance. It's more likely that your PC is old and/or bogged down by software.

Run the task manager and see if your CPU or ram is the problem and then upgrade accordingly.
