Phalanx wrote In your logic, a doctor doesn't need to attend medical school. He will just learn from his mistakes (after he kills people), then he will be a wise doctor. I'm sorry but this makes no sense.

Haha that was really funny.

maths and english are obviously very beneficial and needed in learning as a very lot of jobs require these. but other than these the others aren't necessarily needed unless you want a job in them

triksta2k11 wrote Have you ever thought about what you actually learn from school?
About when and why you would use trigonometry and algebra?
About WHAT they actually teach you?

The thing is, education is important, right?
Well you can get education from other sources!
You can educate yourself by learning from your mistakes, from nature, from thinking about things deeply, from other people or from your past etc...

Fair enough, school can make you smart! But can it make you wise? There's only so much a school can teach you... Life and nature and experience will make you wise.

Some of the richest and smartest, most successful people in the world left or didn't even attend school! So is school really that important? I don't think so

If school is not important please tell me the exact amount of lumber I would need to build a 20 foot by 90 foot by 20 foot shed. Or maybe you could ask your nature friends.

You're never going to learn algebra from a mistake.

School and education is important. However, I believe that qualifications and grades shouldn't determine how smart you are or how good you are/would be at doing a specific job.

This guy talks a lot of sense:

Well in this scenario then yeah you would need school... if you never went to school in the first place(hypothetically) you would literally know nothing, you wouldn't be able to use correct grammar, you wouldn't have a clue how to add up because like you said "When will you need algebra, etc." but in these terms it would be simple math and English not to mention you would have 0 problem solving skills due to never having to suffer through hard work in school.

Goto school kids.

Thank you Brad, too many things are biased off of test scores and grades. I fully agree with your point of view.

This is what my English Professor told me

" School and what I am teaching you is bullsh*t, the reason why you are here is basically to keep you busy for your child hood and try to keep you out of trouble. The reason that you are here is because you have been told that your entire life and it has been fused into your brain."

But that does not mean that school is not important. Its necessary to an extent but not everything is needed.

school is important, you cannot become wise from it, that is something you must do on your own but learning what you learn from school is very important

You learn being wise from yourself and those around you lol.
And the richest people in the world are mostly the smartest, at least the ones who left school.
They all were geniuses and had a good reason to drop out.
For example: Bill Gates, Microsoft.

You're pretty much saying that I can drop out of school and go become a doctor or pharmacist lol.
