I thought his would be a good discussion.

I was watching a YouTube video and he was talking about how Sony and Microsoft were confident about the 'digital download' only, and what this means is, you can buy physical copies of games on disc but you can also have a code or a QR code to download them directly onto your hard drive. With no disc required it seems like a great idea right? So would you rather have the good old discs? That you could lend out and borrow from friends or would you rather have a digital download so you would never have to experience a scratched disc?

The reason why this was not put forward into the next gen, was simply that the internet can't handle it. Each game can be up to 30GB (rough guess could be a lot less) which would take up a lot of your bandwidth and could potentially exceed your limit. It would not be fair on people who are less fortunate to have a basic internet package.

Do you think this will be enforced soon? Or later? Are you for or against digital downloads.

Well, They sort of did this With FIFA 14 on Xbox One, where you got a code and it Downloaded the full game, I think it was around 8GB. xD

I sure hope we stay with physical.

Look at the psp go vs 3000.

I doubt that most would want the go since the 300 can download and use umds.

Your right, they did. People with fast download speeds won't have a problem with that, but if you ask somebody with a slow internet it would of taken them hours.

In the future, yes its a safe bet that we will leave the era of tangible copies of games. Right now, I could never see it happening as there are too many people that would be limited by bandwidth.

Which is good news for Gamestop.

I feel like in the near future everything will be downloadable, I personally find it easier to just buy and download a game or a movie rather than wasting gas to go to the store and buying the game or movie.

I think in the future yes, but it won't be as simple as just downloading them off the dash. I think they'll have to accommodate those with worse internet capabilities and such.

This would be better for people with fast internet but for people like be who barely get 1Mb/s when downloading from sites and on Xbox it wouldn't be very good.
