The idea of traveling between the United States and China without flying might seem ridiculous to virtually everyone, but if Beijing gets its way thats exactly what will be possible in the future.

According to a report in the Beijing Times stated on Thursday that the country is considering building a new high-speed railway that would ultimately connect it with the lower 48 states of the US.

Specifically, the route currently under consideration would begin in northeastern China and run through Siberia to the Bering Strait. At this point, there would be an underground tunnel that cuts through the Pacific Ocean to connect Russia and Alaska, from which the train would continue south through Canada until arriving again in the United States.

According to the Beijing Times, the China-US railway is just one of four ambitious projects he country is thinking about undertaking. One line would connect China to London with stops in Paris, Berlin, and Moscow, while another would link the country to countries like Iran and Turkey. A fourth line, meanwhile, would stretch from China to Singapore, stopping in Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, and Malaysia.

This would be one of the coolest things ever to see in my life time if it were to happen. I would love to see this come about and maybe even use it one day. That'd be a sight to see.

That would be really cool but I doubt that this will be happening during my lifetime. I think that they should do this though because it would make transportation a lot easier for a lot of people.

I see where you're coming from, but why would they use a train to do that? Last country that tried that was in WWII and clearly they lost.

Well this idea has some pros and cons

-Pros
-People that hate flying now have a good and NON EAR POPPING way of transportation for long distances
-I have never seen this before and would be cool

-Cons
-What happens if we have a war with China?
-It will take a while to make

Are you talking about the Soviet Union? Because they used trains to move their troops. In 1944 it didn't seem like they lost to me.

No one really won WW2. The SU lost so many lives you can barely call it a victory.

Anyway, China and the US won't have a war, all you have to do is blow the track up.
