Does anyone know a easy/fast way to get them? I have been trying for a while to get some for my armour but I have only gotten 2 in like the past 2 weeks

if you get crucible or vanguard rank hree just grind marks and buy armor ten dismantle it, easy way to get them. or play the raid

You can earn one by playing the daily heroic story mission if you select the right difficulty. I don't know about other (faster) ways, but I haven't really looked for them yet either.

I just played a couple public events and got three ascendence shards from doing them.
