Basically as the title says; I'm wondering is there is a fastest way to get Ascendant Shards? I checked the sticky for farming methods but saw no mention of this. So if you guys know of any shortcuts/famring methods please share!

I believe they are pretty much random. But you have a better chance during public events, you can check time schedules for public events on the bungie website (I think).

Do the Vault of Glass and Daily Story, by far the best method.

I have around 60 shards all from doing the raid. I just have terrible luck with getting raid gear so I'm constantly getting shards from either the chests or the bosses during the raid. My advice is just to do the raid even if you have full raid gear, and do all the public events.

EDIT: I forgot about the weekly nightfalls, I've gotten up to 12 shards. And if you make a second character same class as your main you'll be able to do everything twice, which means MORE SHARDS.

I always get them from the raid or you could spend your vanguard and crucible marks and buy legendary armor then just dismantle it for a few extra. I've been doing this and it has been working for me.

Public events , 2 or 3 profiles for daily/weekly/nightfall missions,raids,buying armour from vanguard and dismantling it all Of which can lead to an impressive amount of shards not to mention you'll gain many coins and motes of light and engrams whilst doing all of the above for me personally there is no single fastest way to gain them
