Texas is leading a coalition of 17 states in suing President Obama over his plan for immigration reform. The lawsuit argues that his executive action violated the United States Constitution.

Filed in a Texas federal court, the suit claims the Obama administration violated constitutional limits on presidential powers when President Obama ordered the protection from deportation and the right to work for up to 5 million undocumented parents of US citizens, so long as they come forward and pay taxes.

The lawsuit, spearheaded by Texas Governor-elect Greg Abbott, a Republican, looks to have the order declared illegal but seeks no monetary damages.

Joining Abbott and the state of Texas in the 17 state coalition are other Republican strongholds, including Alabama, Georgia, Idaho, Mississippi and Utah.

"The President is abdicating his responsibility to faithfully enforce laws that were duly enacted by Congress, and attempting to rewrite immigration laws, which he has no authority to do," Abbott told Reuters.

This is ridiculous, Texas is a huge slap in the face to America. Who sues there own President? I just don't understand, if you don't like his policies then so be it, wait for the next presidential election and elect a new president.

I don't even understand the point you're trying to make.

Obama completely leaped over the democratic system that America was built on when he did this.

It literally says in our constitution that we have the right to bare arms.
Obama is for gun control, so I don't understand what you're trying to get at.

People sue the President more than you would think.
This isn't something new.

This isn't a lawsuit for any commercial gain.

All these people are trying to do is make a point that what he did could be considered unconstitutional.

Becoming a citizen is too long of a process and needs some change but he is taking the wrong approach that could lead him to a lot of trouble.
