The name Int comes form Integer; When I was learning a computer programming language I came across Int (Integers).

Int is a fundamental (i.e. built into the compiler) type used to define numeric variables holding whole numbers.
nt is short for integer. As only whole numbers can be stored in an Int variable. 7, 4908 or -6575 are ok. 5.6 is not. Numbers with fractional parts requires a float type variable.

The size of number that can be stored in an int depends on the hardware. Usually, but not always it is 32 bits so the range of values is from -2,147,483,648 to 2,147,483,647.
