Ive recently started to notice that whenever I do something bad it's never forgotten and although I often do good it is never remembered. Therefore rendering an opinion of people. Do you think it's right that people think I'm a bad person despite the fact I try and often do good? For example I work at a nursing home for the elderly as a housekeeper (only part time till I finish college) the other day despite not being a carer I still chose to help the residents and take them to the lounge as some cant walk very well, however they moaned at me for dropping a plate and smashing it and didn't remember me helping the residents. So my question is do you think this right?

Unless they said they didn't remember you helping the residents, how can you really assume that it just got randomly wiped from their memory? Anyways, it's pretty known that humans focus more on the negative than the positive.
Do I think the fact that you didn't get rewarded for dropping a plate is right? Yes. It almost seems like you can justify your mistakes just because you did something good. Nobody asked you to take on the role of a carer, so don't expect praise every time you do a little favor.

Here is how I look at it. Doing good things are often times what you should be doing (I.E. responsibilities), or are otherwise normal. Doing bad things are out of the ordinary. Since ordinary things are normal, we just forget about them, but when someone is out of the ordinary, we remember it. Just like when you go to a 300 lap nas car race. You won't remember any one lap, it will all be the same, unless there was a nasty wreck. You will remember that wreck but other than that, it's just a bunch of people turning left at 200 mph.

im not expecting praise. the fact that i get judged for the bad i do rather than the good i do. im just wanting people to create a fair opinion. i dont need to justify myself to people but it would be nice for people to see me for me and not think im horrible because of the bad i do when i do more good than bad.

I get what your saying.
I personally think it comes down to people needing something negative to say about you. In the sense that, even though you did a good deed, they concentrate more on your negative mistakes/doings, because it makes them feel better. This just comes down to people being miserable and truly pathetic.
Also its important to justify how bad your bad deeds were compared to your good deeds

I think that modern society is far too harsh on people who do things wrong.
People today are held solely responsible for everything they do wrong, and in a lot of cases that is the correct course of action, but scalding people for simple mistakes is not the right course.
The ancient Greeks, arguably one of the most intelligent and intuitive civilisations in history, believed that you could be a good person even if you failed regularly.
They believed that things weren't always down to the person who failed, and that various factors all played into it - many of which were completely out of the control of the person.
Almost all of the old Greek tragic comedy plays involved a high-born, rich person better than most other people in the play, but who were prone to making small mistakes.
The other characters would pay more attention to the small mistakes than the good things the main character did, which would eventually lead to something catastrophic, all because of one small mistake.
In short, people don't like to fail, and if making someone else feel like a failure makes them feel like more of a success they will jump on it, but if you do something good for them they will scarcely acknowledge it.

I think that's just how the human brain works, not gonna lie. People unconsciously look for the flaws in things, whether its in people or something else, rather than looking for the good.
