What up ttg,
so i need some help with something i cant figure out what to do. im currently running the following in my computer
-CPU: AMD-A4 5300
-GPU: GTX 960
-RAM: 16GB
-MOTHERBOARD: MSI
im looking to upgrade my processor because it is trash obviously but im running into a few problems. the MAIN problem is that my motherboard is a socket fm2 for processors and i cant seem to find a good processor that is worth upgrading too for streaming and gaming.
what someone told me to do was to get a new motherboard, but if i can get a good processor without having to switch motherboards id prefer to do that.

if i switch to this motherboard, what processor should i get? i was also referred to this one.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
but if i wanted to upgrade to both of these i would need to get a new power supply because my current power supply is 450PSU and that processor and my gpu would leave me with 150PSU to run everything else due to each of them using 150PSU each.
if anyone can help me out with better things that are worth for this amount of money of a budget of $450 LMK. if you know a beast socket FM2 proccessor i could just upgrade too that would be amazing.
Thanks everyone

If you want to stick to FM2+, then you could always invest into an AMD Athlon X4 860k. It is a very good chip for the price.
Although, if you want to upgrade motherboards, then I would go to the newest LGA 1151 socket or LGA1150. Both have good upgrade paths.

Do not "upgrade" to AM3+. You could update your BIOS and pick up an 860k, that's your best option for your current socket. What exact PSU do you have? A good quality 450W PSU is more than enough for any single GPU rig with a 960. If you have a shit quality PSU however, you're going to want to update before it kills your entire rig.

Could you find out what motherboard you have? I know it's an MSI A55 chipset board, but it could be FM1, FM2, or FM2+. If it's FM2+, you could grab an 860k. If not, you'll need a new motherboard, in which case, it'd make more sense to go with Intel. You'll definitely need a new PSU. Download Speccy and post a screenshot for us so we can see your specific motherboard.
