When I have a bridged connection I get 10Mbs download speed and when I turn on a VPN it goes down to like 300Kbs, is this normal? Is there a way to get super fast speeds with VPN turned on?

All depends on your internet plan. The more upload speed the better your vpn works

This isn't even remotely true.

The limiting factor on VPN upload/download speeds is usually the port speed and congestion of the VPN host.

If you have a 100mb line to your house, but the server you're tunneling through only has a 10mb line, you'll get a max 10mb if you're lucky.

Congestion also plays a role in speeds. If you have 100 people tunneling through a single 100mb server, and they're all using 1mb, you're not going to get very quick speeds.

Of course, even on a perfect server with no congestion, you're going to lose a little bit of speed just because of how VPN tunneling works (you're basically sending all of your traffic through another computer).

But if you have a 10mb line and you're maxing out at 300kb while tunneling, your vpn provider is likely congested. Might want to look into a different provider.

Hence why I said your internet plan (provider).

Depends on what your VPN provides.

Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is different than your VPN host. You can have a 1Gb/s package from your ISP and a 20Mb/s VPN plan and you wont ever go above the 20Mb/s through that VPN.
