My biggest takeaway from this trailer...The Sun legendary is a Steel type, not fire, did not see that coming.

Not sure how I feel about Ratom being the Pokedex...not the biggest fan of the pokemon.
Though it'll be funny to see what his entry is in the dex, if there will be bias or not.

I was thinking Solgaleo was going to be Fire and Fairy to be honest, mainly because there isn't a Fairy Fire Pokemon yet, completely off lol. What I'm more excited for is the fact that there is 4 islands (5 if you count the very small Pokemon League? in the middle.) Hopefully some of the islands have side stories like Firered/Leafgreen while still branching with the main quest. Now the next thing I'm waiting for, is the new megas that come out. Having high hopes for Dragonite, Arcanine, Lapras, Staraptor and of course the Gen 2 starters (if they'll even be a thing for Gen 7.)

Some new news regarding Sun and Moon have come out, that I would like to post on your topic.

Zygrade's new forms have been revealed to be in this game. I will be honest, I was expecting his new forms to be in Pokemon Z, but there are rumours that Z is getting cancelled, which would make sense as to why Zygrade's new forms are in Sun and Moon. Thousand Arrows is seriously going to change the meta-game, Ground move that can hit Flying types, dealing super effective to Fire, Electric, Poison, Rock and Steel types, who share a Flying type. It's also going to punch through Levitate users like Gengar and Rotom. Thousand Arrows was the most spammed move in Hackmons, as a lot of people used to run Air Balloon with an Electric Type, using the ability Wonder Guard, Thousand Arrows was the counter so you didn't get humiliated, and if Zygrade's new forms are OU, the meta is going to have a drastic change.

2 new Pokemon have been revealed, Iwanko and Nekkoala.

I'm calling Iwanko Mightydoge 2.0 because just looking at it, makes me think it'll be very similar to evolution line to Poochyena and Mightyena. Nekkoala has a very interesting ability, but I don't see it being too good for competitive.

Ability: Definite Sleep

Details:
Nekkoala was revealed in the July 2016 issue of CoroCoro. It is a unique Pokemon in that it can only have the Sleep special condition.

So I'm guessing it will always be a sleep, and Sleep Talk is going to be an obvious must. I'm assuming this is going to be similar to the Slakoth evolution line, starts off very lack luster with a very hindering ability (Truant for Slakoth and Definite Sleep for Nekkoala,) second evolution things switch around with getting much better stats and an ability that doesn't hamper your (Vigoroth with Vital Spirit) and third evolution, gets huge stat increases but with the same hampering ability (Slaking with Truant, Nekkoala's last evolution with Definite Sleep again.) Definite Sleep with Sleep Talk in my opinion won't be as bad as Truant, but if you're running a recovery move or a status move, chances are, you can chain together a Sleep Talk with recovery or status, after it was used, which would make the move fail, basically equaling a Truant like Slaking, only your luck could go bad and you up in a chain with no attacks lol.

Pikipek I feel is going to have a strong competitive presence if it has a good speed tier and attack in it's final evolution. The fact one of it's abilities is Skill Link, pair that with Life Orb or Choice Band or if you want to play safe, Muscle Band or Expert Belt, it's going to have a good role in competitive.

Update time boys and girls.

7 new Pokemon have been revealed and a new trailer has been shown for Sun and Moon. It's in Japanese as the Pokemon Channel hasn't uploaded an English trailer yet, so there's that.

New Pokemon shown. A lot of bug type and electric type Pokemon were shown.

So, there is A LOT of new abilities which are going to completely change the meta, like seriously change the meta.

Magearna (A Pokemon hinted a while back) has the ability Soul Heart which raises it's SpA each time it knocks out a Pokemon. Pretty much the Moxie ability, but boosts SpA instead of Attack.

Yungoos (A Pokemon shown at the E3 gameplay) has the ability Stakeout. Deals double damage to Pokemon who switch in. This is seriously going to change U-Turn/Volt Switch core teams as now they have to worry about getting hit with double damage. If this ability is on more Pokemon that have better stats, it's going to really halt a lot of switch in core teams.

Tapu Koko has the ability Elec Maker. It makes the terrain electric, which stops Pokemon from falling asleep and increases damage from Electric moves. While not the most competitive play, having this has a suicide lead to set up Elec Maker and then send a Pokemon like Mega-Manectric, gives room for serious electric sweeps.

Bruxish, seriously, the best ability that will have a huge impact on the meta. It has the ability Dazzle, which negates all priority moves. Talonflame, is pretty much shut down by this thing because now Gale Wings won't work at all. Quick Attack, Extreme Speed, Sucker Punch, Mach Punch, Vacuum Wave, Bullet Punch, Shadow Sneak, will not work on this thing at all. If more Pokemon have this move or if this Pokemon becomes a bulky or fast hyper offensive, that's going to call for a lot of team changes.

Dramps has the ability Frenzy, which boosts it's SpA when the ability is activated, which is unclear right now how that works. A Normal-Dragon type with SpA boosts from an ability? I can see that having some good use for competitive Pokemon.

New update time hype

Another new Pokemon (and battle music lol) has been showed, and it's something a lot of people have been asking for a while. A Poison/Fire type with a pretty interesting ability.

Salandit is the new Pokemon announced with the ability Corrosion, allowing it to Poison Pokemon who are Steel or Poison type. This is going to have a fair use on competitive as a lot of people try to switch in a Steel or Poison type on a Pokemon that is known to use Poison moves or Toxic. I'm not sure if it'll be able to use Poison attacking moves on Steel types as it's ability only states it can inflict the Poison status on Steel and Poison. It's typing is interesting and something a lot of people wanted, however it's not the best at all for competitive as it has a lot of common weakness. 4x to Ground moves, 2x to Rock, Water and Psychic. However, it gives an even greater resistance to switching in on Grass or Bug moves, with that damage doing 0.25x (U-Turn spam literally wouldn't do shit to it.) Fairy moves are also only going to do 0.25x. I'm hoping it has some pretty decent stats in it's final evolution to give it some competitive play as it's ability is too good to not use for competitive. Air Balloon will more than likely be a must for it's typing.

Running out of titles for updates - update

2 new Pokemon have been showcased in the CoroCoro magazine.

Kiteruguma and Mimikkyu are the two new Pokemon showed.

Kiteruguma has the abilities of Fluffy and Klutz. Klutz is an older ability from previous games and Fluffy is a new ability that has yet to have any info. Kiteruguma is a Normal Fighting type. I've never been too solid on Fighting type Pokemon, but we'll see where this goes.

Mimikkyu has the ability False Colors (hate spelling colour as "color".) False Colors is a new ability that also has no information on it right now. Mimikkyu is a Ghost and Fairy type, which is a pretty interesting combo as it's dual-type, negate a lot of common threats. Ghost is weak to Dark moves, but Fairy resist that, meaning Dark moves only do normal damage instead of 2x. Fairy is weak to Poison moves, but Ghost resist that, meaning Poison moves only do normal damage instead of 2x. Bug moves won't put a dent into it at all as Ghost and Fairy both resist Bug moves so that U-Turn spam is only going to be doing 0.25x of damage to it. It also checks Dragon types who are stuck into an Outrage or Pokemon who is Choice Scarf, Specs or Band; using a Dragon move as Fairy takes no damage from it. It's only weakness is Steel and other Ghost types.

Another new trailer/gameplay has also been shown. It's in Japanese as the English Pokemon Channel hasn't uploaded it there. In the video it shows that you can ride Pokemon once again as it was shown you can ride a Tauros, Stoutland, Lapras and a Sharpedo, meaning other Pokemon will follow suit.

Someone needs to give me more names for titles - update

4 new Pokemon have been showcased with gameplay of the 2 new Pokemon that were showcased last time (plus new music lol.)

A lot of bug Pokemon have been released for Gen 7 so far. Anyways, onto the abilities.

Wimpod has the ability Wimp Out, where after it's HP reaches below 50% it runs away from battle and I'm assuming it will force switch with another Pokemon in the party if it's a trainer battle or it's your Wimpod against a wild Pokemon and your Wimpod lost 50% of their HP.

Bounsweet has two abilities that are from other games, with the ability of Leaf Guard or Oblivious.

Comfey (and people bitched about Klefki and how "they're running out of ideas" here comes the hate on this Pokemon.) Anyways, Comfey has two abilities, one from Gen 6 and a new one. The recurring ability is Flower Veil. The new ability it has is Triage which makes restorative moves the highest ability. By it's description, I'm assuming that means it's moves will go before Extreme Speed or Talonflame with Gale Wings. This I feel will have a big impact on competitive in the sense that you may just survive a lot easier now. Giga Drain and I'm assuming Leech Seed are the moves that fall into the category for this ability. If you lower an enemies HP low enough, you're at low HP but they're faster or you know they have a priority move, now you can be able to counter than and regain some HP to help against the next Pokemon if not win the game.

Mudsdale has two abilities with one being an older ability. Own Tempo is the older ability with Stamina being the new ability. Stamina increases your physical defense every time you're hit by an attack. It's not specified if it has to be a physical or special attack, but for now, taking damage from an attacking move, will increase your physical defense. This I feel will be a huge pivot against U-Turn and Rapid Spin attackers as they'll be giving you a free defense boost using a mostly weak attack.

One of the 2 Pokemon I covered last time, I put it's name as Kiteruguma, well that is apparently it's Japanese name and it's English name is Bewear. It's abilites are the same as listed last time.

Now the biggest game changer ability wise, belongs to Mimikyu. Originally the ability was called False Colors, but that could just be the Japanese name. It's ability is called Disguise. It allows the Pokemon to take a hit from an enemy, without taking damage and then it's appearance slightly changes (maybe evolved form will change more than it does now after taking the hit.) This is a huge game changer because it's literally a free Substitute. This gives you that one turn you need to set up whatever you have to do. If the attacking Pokemon switches out when you send this thing in, not only did you get a free setup, but you also kept your one damage-free hit, which allows you to further setup or punish the next Pokemon that comes into play. Ghost and Fairy gives it a lot of room to abuse the enemy being forced to switch to setup, however I'm sure as the meta goes on, people will suicide lead just to take that sub away from you so their next Pokemon can try and do what they need. I'm assuming Mold Breaker, Teravolt and Turboblaze will ignore the one free hit and just deal straight damage.
