my mums for ka just developed a sound when you turn the wheel, it makes a grinding noise as if something was inside of it when moving the wheel, anyone had this problem and know how to fix it?

Are there any vibrations in the wheel or is it only when you move it? Any other noises besides the grinding such as a squeal or clunking noise?

nothing like thats, its as if some dirt or grit has got in and everytime she turns the wheel its grinds the grit.

I suppose it could also be a wheel bearing.
Do you have access to a jack? If you do, jack the front end of the car up and try to wiggle the tires. If they wiggle as if your lug nuts are loose, your wheel bearings are bad.
While the car is up in the air, look at the CV axles, if a boot is torn then there is no grease and of course that's no good. Sometimes they look flawless and brand new on the exterior but they're still bad.

It's normal on these, I had a mk5 fiesta and that did exactly the same on different occasions for a few days each time, something to do with he grease distribution in the boss, it'll be fine in a few days.
