Basically, my computer keeps crashing when it appears there's a lot of processing happening. Like playing a game or a few windows are open. I've looked around and nothing works. Even got a new hard drive but that's done nothing to help. Any suggestions to stop this?!

Any error messages or anything?

Also, is your PC Windows 10?

If your PC is Windows 10, did you upgrade to it? Or was it made for Windows 10 and came from a retailer?

Answer those and I'll get back to you

A lot of devices that you upgrade to Windows 10, from 7, 8, and 8.1, have small little things like this that just don't work with that hardware configuration, or some files are left out, or not written properly, and there's not much you can do about this. My advice, downgrade back to 7, and just get a new computer when finances allow, one that was made for 10, that comes with it installed already.

Back when XP was the big thing, the release of Vista screwed up so many PC's because the same reason, and when Vista came with PC's, upgrading to 7 had the same issue for many devices where it just wouldn't work. With pre-built laptops and desktops that come with an OS, it's best to just stay with that OS and get a whole new desktop/laptop once the new thing comes out. It usually takes years for new OS's to come out, so it's a good idea to put some money away during that time period, so when the new OS comes out, you can buy a yew setup with that new OS already on it.

If you built your computer, call the manufacturer of most every piece of hardware, and tell them about this error, and they'll see if it has something to do with their specific piece in combination with Windows 10. But my overall advice, just abandon 10, and get a new setup that was made for it once you're able to bro

Make sure your drivers are up-to-date and scan your system for malware. This has been happening quite a lot recently.

So here's my findings. I normally jump into stuff without hesitation as I have backups, a backup OS on my flash drive, and a decent amount of knowledge, so I upgraded to 10...

My drivers on a fresh install did work for 10, but there was so much wrong like a boot time of around 4 mins, the system would freeze completely if I did anything like MS Word, or Photoshop, and I'd have to manually power it off by holding the power button. Also I find the application "Core Temp" very useful, right now it's clocking 115 degrees Fahrenheit, where as on Windows 10, having 5 tabs open like I do now, in FireFox like I'm using right now, my CPU clocked at 194 degrees. My PC can handle that, but it's still ridiculous that Windows 7, and Windows 10, with the exact same installed softwares, and doing the exact same thing, can hav such a dramatic difference in CPU temp.

My advice, avoid 10 completely, until you buy a new laptop or desktop that was made for it, one that comes with it.

Just a quick update haha, jusat reading through my past topics. Finally fixed the problem! Got inside my PC and the heat sink was covered in dust. Cleaned it out and now it's stable than ever. Few restarts here and there but it is an old-ish PC after all.
