Im turning 17 in 2 months, ive had a moped for just under a year, so insurance will be sly sly cheaper, im looking for a car for around 5,000 and no idea on insurance, but itll be paid for, something that looks decent, but not too low on MPG.
UK.
edit: only need the car for about a year, until i can drive my parents a3 that theyre giving me

No, 5k Mexican Peso's...
OP, the best advice I can give you the lack of boundaries you have provided (2 door, 4 door, hatchback, sedan, etc.) is to just cruise Craigslist or look around dealer lots for things in your price range and see what you like. When you see a car you like the style of, write the make model and year down and do some research. Look up known problems, call for a quote on insurance, call a mechanic and see how much new brakes will cost (or other simple repairs).

Try looking into an 94-00' car. IF you can drive Manual will be better. Since you live in the UK you'll be having more luck finding a Volkswagen brand car. (German Brand.. List goes on and on) Try looking around maybe at car dealerships? (Locally owned) or a UK version of Craigslist?

I personally like Vauxhall Corsa's 09-13 plates, or ford fiesta 09-13 plate also.

My Mini Cooper cost me around £3000, I would recommend one, if not look at corsas or clios. They are relatively cheap for the car and the insurance isn't that bad.

I don't live in the UK and I don't use their currency so your sarcasm isn't needed when I was just clarifying where exactly he lived. Thanks though

I'd go with an older mustang gt if I were you. The decision depends alot of the type of car you are looking for though
