So a little backround on this issue. I haven't used this iPod in a year or more because I forgot the passcode. The iPod is jailbroken, can't remember what update.
When I try to restore or update it through iTunes it either says network connection timed out or I get error code 1671. I put it into DFU mode and still the same issue. I've tried moving the host file and turning off any firewall or antivirus I have.
Any help would be appreciated.

The only way that I think that could be possible is if you restore it on iTunes or you go to a hardware store and get the hard drive replaced. Not sure if you want something on the hard drive but thats the only way I can think of it.

Make sure you're on the latest update of iTunes and make sure you're restoring/updating to the latest iOS (iOS 9.3.5 is the only signed one for the iPod touch 5). If you try to restore/update to a firmware other than the currently signed ones, it's gonna give you an error every time.
wat
