Hi Guys, just curious, has anyone here had there engine remapped? and did you notice the difference?
I am looking to have it done and it shows I can gain an extra 10% BHP and 11% Torque.
I've been told I would really see the difference but I want to speak to a few people before so,
Thanks

I've personally heard stories of ECU remapping not really making a difference. But I really don't know much about ECU remapping. Bone stock engines aren't likely to benefit from remapping to be honest.
I'd also like to see some other opinions on this.

what type of car do you have? if its turbocharged then yes you should certainly see a difference. I know European vehicles come extremely under powered when brought over to the US. For my car with just an ecu flash i get +52hp and +100tq, making it a great power gain for the money.

I'm not sure about the car world, but I know in the diesel truck world you have to be VERY careful. You can get the cheap tunes or the expensive ones. Both give you about the same end HP and torque, the difference is, the expense ones change a bunch of stuff, the cheap ones just dump a bunch of fuel in the truck by telling it that it's getting more air than it is actually getting. This over a little time melts the pistons and such.
Personally, unless i plan on heavily modifying the vehicle, I wouldn't be one to put tunes on it.

I remapped a Passat estate before because it was having issues with the airflow pumping out to much smoke because the mixture was off and it was low on power but after a remap it fixed the airflow and mixture issue and did gain a bit more power. I never put it on a dyno before and after do I don't know what the difference is sadly.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Decided not to bother in the end, doesn't seem worth it on my car
