I don't care about the awesome badge, I mean seriously it's just a badge on a website nothing special really.

People with gold have "extra" privelliges that are not avaiable for regular members. If the wrong people get a hold of gold, they may release the features to non-members. This is not allowed and would be bad for the site.

I know getting gold helps the site, but if everyone has gold, then there is nothing special about it. It is for members who can afford and deserve it which is not everyone.

3. It creates a lot of spam
Pretty much everyone can give rep and if every user makes a rep giveaway, you got almost 200,000 rep giveaways. That is what you call spam.

4.Bad users can get rep
Rep is to be earned to show your reputation on the site. If a scammer gets rep and has a high rep amount becasue he/she wins a lot of contests, then people will trust him/her and get scammed.

5. Awesome Badge
Most giveaway are intended for one reason... Yep, the Awesome badge. It is something pretty much tons of users want and think giveaway will help. It is obviuous that people want it and I bet if there was no Awesome Badge, people wouldnt be doing giveaways often. So people that do giveaways would stop and the spam for the badge would go away.

i agree with your logic but i got gifted, and ive had 9 techgasms already!

#1 is untrue it is a Forum if things get leaked new stuff will be there to replace that and the User/Leaker will be Banned
