Start with a cheaper car then after few months change to higher end if that's really what you want.

Wouldn't advise on buying a car for a few months and then changing a few months later again, its a waste of money and I'm speaking from personal experience.

Buy a car and stick with it, build your NCB and year(s) driving experience then look at upgrading.

Yeah I know that but it seems like he has an urge to go high end. I completely agree with you.

He will realise that it would be more beneficial to do as suggested by me and others, its common sense.

If he does go ahead and get an expensive car as a first car, he will come to regret it later on and THEN realise that he made a mistake and wasted his savings.

He may be working full time already with a well paying job. A lot of people in the UK around our age do this and kick start their career very early which can be a good thing if you plan it correctly.

I got my Leon FR in November 2016 and I'm 19, I am able to afford it by working full time.

Well a lot of my friends finished college and skipped uni, Started an apprenticeship which led to a full time job after a 12 months on the apprenticeship course, depending on the length of it.

So I guess when I say "A lot of people in the UK", I really mean all my friends and others around me. I apologise for the miscommunication on my behalf buddy

Yeah mate I am working, done an apprenticeship straight out of school and have got a job permanently at the firm, which is in the IT sector. Which isn't paying bad for my age at the moment. I Also do bit's on the side that bring in some income.

Ony a few weeks ago I got told by my parents that when I turn 18 I'll be receiving a court award from an incident i had when I was a baby, which I don't wanna disclose the exact amount but it's a 6 figure total. Which has put thoughts in my head of maybe just buying a new car like the Merc to start off with and keep it for 3-4 years to get my money out of it.

The Fiesta Ecoboost are around 6-8k So going to £13k - £15k isn't a large jump is i'll be using it for 3-4 years. and My yearly salary can re-coupe that amount?

What d'you think?

Avexir wrote I have a Fiesta Zetec S S1600 (limited edition) at the moment. Getting a Fiesta ST-2 soon.

I'm 20, driving about 1 year 8 months and my insurance is £90 a month currently.

Brilliant car, very reliable and very nice to drive.

Very nice car mate, been looking at the facelift models of them. Do you mind how much you picked that up for and what mileage did it have on the clock?

The car was around 7999 at the time and the mileage was 26K. I'm looking to upgrade to a ST-2 which has the facelift. The EcoBoosts are also a great buy, lovely cars.
