Hello everyone, So I have a little question. Basically I will be starting college very soon and was quite tempted to pick up the new 2017 Macbook, I don't really know much specs in term of Mac's and how well they preform
So basically the model I was looking at is called
MacBook 2017 MNYM2 12 Inch M3 8GB 256GB Rose Gold (£1249.99)
Available in rose gold, gold, space grey and silver.
Multi-touch trackpad.
Long-lasting battery.
CPU and Memory:
Intel Core M 3 processor.
Dual core processor.
Processor speed 1.2GHz.
8GB RAM.
This is some of the basic specs, looking at the processor it seems really low, something I wouldn't have gone for in terms of building a windows pc, my friends have told me because the operating system is different 1.2GHz is usually fine with a Mac as long as your not using it for gaming - photo editing - video editing, could anyone tell me would this be okay for college and just personal use etc or would this just be a really slow device for the price?
Thanks!
Simo

When you buy an Apple Product, you're buying the name. Apple products are heavily overpriced when you take into account how much the computer is actually worth.
With that being said, they are probably the most popular computer when it comes to students... kind funny when students complain about being broke constantly.
I have a MacBook Air and I got it for multiple reasons, and I can do all that(and more) on a cheaper Laptop. I still got the Macbook though, damn Apple just always wins.
But with what you're concerned about, I don't think you'll have a problem with it running slow. Macs are pretty damn quick doing just about everything, it has an SSD instead of a regular HD as well.
I would sit in class with a lecture on my screen, looking at TTG, and playing Runescape and it was running fine. I have an older Macbook Air as well, so you'd be getting one with more power than mine.
I use my Laptop for hours every day and I don't regret purchasing it. I still utilize my gaming PC much more, but I use my laptop for the portability. It has a nice battery life so I don't have to worry much about it, and it charges super quick.
TL;DR If you have the money to spend and don't mind "wasting" a few hundred dollars buying the "Apple" of the Laptop, then do it, I think what you are worried about you won't have a problem with. A macbook being used for personal/academic purposes is perfect.

Thanks for your comment and actually focusing on the pro's and cons and not just posting bias apple comments, thank you. I will definitely look into it!

Yes. It's specced like a tablet because it's meant to be used for basic tasks. The CPU is more than good enough and you're paying for the screen, build quality, battery life, and fast storage.
You can get the same work done for a fraction of the price if you want to sacrifice some of these nice things.
