Seriously, from gamer to gamer, avoid gaming laptops unless you absolutely must have the portability. You'd be much better off with a laptop and a desktop that you build yourself. I can help with both choices.

If you absolutely must have a gaming laptop, the Asus G-Series is the best choice right now, from my experience. They're priced much better than Alienwares, and you can get a better graphics chipset for WAY under 2 grand.

Simple answer, no.

People who aren't avid PC builders / enthusiasts tend to get caught up with the aesthetics of the computer, rather than looking at the raw performance, which in this case is terrible. As said by r00t_b33r above, unless you need/want to carry a heavy laptop around, a nice pre-built PC from NCIX will give you a lot more performance for a lot less money. That's something to think of, no? Take a look at Sager notebooks as well.
