How to stop/fix lag on your Xbox 360 | TUT |

Hey TheTechGame, we've all had the issue of lag. Am I right? You're sitting there playing Call of Duty MW3, on your killing spree and suddenly, everything stops. You can still walk around, but everything else, has stopped. You're sitting there like: "What the ****?" and then suddenly you drop out of the game with a "Connection Error". I know, it's complete bullshit. And 9 out of 10 times this is caused purely because of your wireless connection or the fact that you're running on wireless.

Well I'm here to help you, and make sure you get your problem fixed. It's annoying for everyone, I know I've had my fair share of this happening to me. Mostly whilst playing Halo 3 though, ****' good game.

Well the first thing you've got to do is check, if you have to, what sort of connection you've got to the internet. If you've got an ethernet cable directly in to the back of your xbox, don't bother reading on. That means it's just your ISP, you either need to ring them up and get a better deal, or switch ISP's. If you're running on your wireless internet connection, that's the issue right there. We all know that running on wireless is so much easy and much more fun and free. No cords, no issues just a simple invisible force connecting your xbox to the internet. I know, sounds good right? Well did you know that connecting your ethernet cable into your Xbox 360 instead of using wireless could fix everything for you? But for the most of us we can't, as our modems aren't really in an ideal place, and we aren't in any position to move them.

If you do not have an Xbox 360 Slim console, then get your wireless adapter, sell it to a friend, or give it to him/her if you're that kind of person, chuck it out the window, give it to the cat lady, return it for some store credit, whatever. Just get rid of it. If you don't want anymore lag, you don't need it.

Now as I did mention earlier, most of us just can't move our modem or our Xbox 360, and they aren't really in the ideal position to connect them up, so it's not that simple. We're going to be needing things called "Corinex Gamelines". Basically, what these strange devices do is send a 200 megabyte connection between them, what you have to do first is get 2, one for your modem and one for your Xbox. You can these from here, if you don't really like the price tag, you could look around and try to find a better deal yourself, but I can't help you there.

Now what you want to do, is construct a "Powerline". As you can see on your Gamelines, they have a spot on each where you have to plug in an ethernet cable, and the Gameline itself plugs into a power socket. Here's how to actually start using them. First you want to have 2 ethernet cables, again, one for your Modem and the other for your Xbox 360, you want to put one in the back of your modem, or wherever you can put it in on your modem, side, top, bottom, top wherever. And the other one in the back of your Xbox 360. Now get your gamelines and plug them into the closest possible wall socket, you may have to disconnect your lamp or something if you've got no sockets within the reach of the ethernet cable, but oh well. Next you're going to want to plug the Modem's side Gameline into the closes wall socket, and connect the ethernet cable in the Modem, to the Gameline in the ethernet cable's plughole. Also do the same for your Xbox.

Turn the wall sockets on, and voila, you're magically connected to the internet at 200 mbps, which is basically the speed you'll get just plugging it in normally. I hope you enjoyed and learnt / gained from this tutorial, it took me a while to write and I hope it goes to good use, thanks. Also make sure you have the ports: 88 - UDP, 3074 - UDP and TCP, 53 -UDP and TCP and 80 - TCP forwarded. Oh and, if you're not quite able to follow my tutorial on how to set it up, just watch this tutorial on how to, thanks.
