i recently uninstalled ubuntu from virtualbox on my mac but something went wrong and the vdi file (21.47GB) is still on my mac but it does not have a path or an image, i cannot drag it to the trash and i cannot edit it at all

Google may be your best bet here mate. Always search on google for problems before you post. It'll keep the forums tidier.
