I think that the zombie ranks goes by K/D and time played or possibly average time per game. I think you need a certain K/D and a certain amount of time overall played/average time per game played to get shotguns. I got reset on zombies a week ago for no reason, ever since then I have had around a 320 K/D ratio but havent had shotguns. Every day my rank would go up once a day after playing for a many hours each day. Except once I got to the knife rank, it took two days of playing for several hours each day, this also includes a very long game on town, round 60 with two people. The game was also 5 hours longer that your'd think because my partner and I took a 5 hour sleep break.
