We do need a better education system. Not sure if this is a way to accomplish it though.

I have seen this coming for a long time. 10 years ago Summer was 3 Months now it's barely a month and a half

Longer school years IMO won't make up for the crap teachers we have nowadays. I know a good number of good teachers that had to quit because they couldn't support their families due to the pitiful excuse of a wage that they get. Had one who makes more doing construction than teaching the youth of tomorrow.
How sad that our government puts our nations education so low on their priority list.

Oh great another way to suposedly fix the education system? Its the students choices that make them do bad in school.

im with bigwes its the students choices to be honest probably more kids are going to dislike school and not care about the grades since there is more school now

We don't need more time in school we need more applied time. When I was on traditional schedule more than half the time I was in class I wasn't doing anything because I had finished all the passed out work. If they applied all the time we spent in class to actually teaching instead of stupid worksheets our education levels might go up.
