Christians shouldn't dictate who celebrates Christmas.
Although, I don't think that saying just because many elements of it are Pagan, that means Atheists are just as justified in celebrating as Christians are, because then you would have to uphold other Pagan holidays and traditions too, if you make that claim.

I celebrate Christmas because I like the festivity, even when I was a Christian, it was always more about the dinner, the carols, the presents and the all round fun than it was worrying about whether we would go to Church or not on Christmas morning.
Surely the Christian thing for your aunt and uncle to do would be to let you celebrate Christmas in the hope that it might rekindle some of the religiosity that you lost?

Who knows, but I think they're wrong for shunning you.

are you serious???

chirstians arn't dictating him his uncle and aunt are. im a christian and i dont mind an athiest celebrating a holiday.

OK, but that's you.
His Aunt and Uncle are Christian and are telling him that he shouldn't be celebrating Christmas.
That is Christians dictating who celebrates Christmas.

I didn't say all Christians do this.

There are two sides of everything here.

1. Could be, You celebrate Christmas early like a holiday, or you Celebrate Holiday like a Christmas.

2. That's why Jesus died on on the cross so we lucky enough we can all have a Saturday and a Sunday of School, Work, etc etc ... and other people can celebrate Christmas with Light, Hope, Joy!

Jesus dying on the cross literally has nothing to do with us being able to celebrate Christmas and having the weekends off of school or work.

Aggie wrote I may be one of the only but when I think of Christmas I think of the birth of Christ. That is the only thing that I care about on that day. All the gifts and crap like that just to get the newest thing is always second in my book.

I know there are more non religious on this site that disagree with me about everything that I believe, than people that agree.

Dec. 25th wasn't even the birth of Christ, so I don't see why it's such a big deal.

Shepherds wouldn't be tending to their flock that late in December.
Romans took a Census. Such censuses were not taken in winter, when temperatures often dropped below freezing and roads were in poor condition. Taking a census under such conditions would have been self-defeating.

The reason it was chosen on 12/25 is because of winter soltice. It is a pagan worship of the Sun, not Son.

& Yes, I am a Christian.
