Are there any other input devices near you??

Is there a usb dongle in any of the usb ports?
I ask this as I did this to a guy at work and he nearly destroyed the place.
Plugged in a small usb bluetooth mouse adapter...fun fun

Disconnect from the internet. Does it still happen?

do you have a mouse pad with the color white(kind of reflective) on it? or is it a frosted glass? sometimes the optical laser shines off of different particles making the mouse pointer move in a shaky circular motion. try a different mousepad or get a mousepad.

Try changing the surface you use the mouse on and check if any dust has built up inside it

It's a laptop, guess I should've been more specific.

It only does it every so often, like a few times a day.

If it's an older wireless mouse it could just be the receiver is going bad, you can pick up a new wireless mouse for $15
