It doesn't matter if the CPU and the motherboard are the same brand or not? ALL motherboards support any type of processor and the speeds are the same than if it was the same exact processor just a different company's.. Anyways he just wants to play COD and Skyrim witch a i7 could easily support.

He has an AMD socket motherboard, not an intel. So he can only get an AMD CPU. Yes if he had a different motherboard such as a z87/z97 motherboard that would be intel compatible. So the two CPUs I suggested would be within his budget.
