Hello TTG I recently bought an iPhone 5 and it worked when I got it, but then I restored it and the guy I bought it from on Craigslist left his Apple id on it and when I restored it I can't get past the activation lock screen. It says I have to enter his old apple id and password and I don't know it or have it. I've contacted the previous owner and he doesn't remember it. So technically i bought a $200 paper weight. i was wondering if anyone knew how to bypass or get past the activation screen?... I am willing to donate if it works. I really need someone to help me. Like I said I restored it to factory setting and to unlock it I need the previous owners apple id and password and I don't have it nor does the previous owner. So if you read this and have any suggestions or knowledge on how to over come this please leave some feedback. Thank you for reading and I hope someone can help me out.

If you take it to a local phone tech shop,
In UK Carphone warehouse or O2 and etc

If you can provide proof of purchase they can help you out.

B-17 I live in the US and how would I have proof of purchase if I bought it off craigslist.... We didn't write up a receipt because we didn't think this would happen.

Even if you had proof of purchase there is nothing Apple can do. People have been through this before with a lot more evidence of ownership than just a proof of purchase and Apple will still not release it.

Look up video's on youtube? that's all i can think.

I saw some company getting rid of the activation but they charge 150bucks lol! they're probably a scam website anyway

Looks like he sold you a stolen phone. It's iCloud locked. Try to contact him. If he doesn't respond well....

I'd hate to break it to you but what B19 said, the phone seems stolen, only thing I can suggest is to email the icloud email "The one you gotta put the password into" that's if it shows.. and just hope that this person checks their emails? if not.. well then man, their may be some other way? but I remember back when I had my 3gs and I forgot my password, shit, they wouldn't do anything, I provided box, receipt, bank statement. everything, so your best bet is either try email the email adress, or see if any tech stores do it or there is a method on the net somewhere.
