Ok so I've just bought a car and was previously insured on my dads car last month, I'm currently learning to drive and 17... When I bought the car it came with some modifications... Firstly the aftermarket exhaust and also bbs alloys on the car. The car is a 1.2 Vauxhall corsa and complies with most insurance policies as a learner it's just the modifications I'm struggling with... It's a lot of hassle and expense to put this back to normal, I only need 1 months cover and was wondering if anyone could advise me? Thanks any help is appreciated!

Assuming you are from the UK because of the Vauxhall, have you checked out an insurance company called 'Marmalade Insurance'? It's good for young drivers but I'm not sure about the modifications. Check it out.

Usually aftermarket parts are more than original. Sell the aftermarket parts and buy used ones. Simple.

A 1.2 corsa doesn't need mods.

Yeah I mean only issue is removing it all etc, I quite like the stuff I mean the alloys have decent tyres and it's a lot of trouble to source it all, I'd hate to think what it would cost to put it back to normal as well as the labour involved to sort it all, it's not practice for the time scale as I wanted to start learning with my own car ASAP

Marmalade insurance is wank, they overcharge you big time.

Cheapest insurer for young drivers by far are Tesco

Modifications make the insurance sky high, that's even if the insurance companies will consider them. As in your case the insurance company won't. Taking the mods off will be your best bet, potemtially getting a black box in the car will decrease the price as well.
