Every review I have watched has said that it isn't a very good movie. Apparently the King Kong parts are good, but the rest is terrible.
Poorly written characters and bad jokes that fall flat every time, which is especially incredible considering one of the writers for this also wrote Nightcrawler.
One reviewer even said that at one point the CGI was so terrible that he thought he was watching a straight to TV movie.

I had really high hopes for Kong because I loved the Peter Jackson version and the mythology in general, but I think I'm going to be disappointed by this movie.
