It's been on my mind lately how much I admire and respect the men and women of the military. I'm Irish, so I'm going to be referring to the U.S military but take away no respect for whatever county you stand up for. If there is anybody on this site who serves, thank you. It's not only your own country you are helping sleep easier at night. My genuine heroes.

Lots of people. And I don't see why people praise the military SOO much, it's just a job. Nobody goes up to police officers and thanks them every day

I would always shake a police officers hand but in my personal opinion the military deserves a high a praise as it gets. But of course that is my own opinion and I may be wrong, you are of course entitled to yours

You really sound like a douche. It's just a job? Maybe in some cases, but in a lot of cases people are shooting hundred to thousands of enemies a day, enemies that would like nothing more than to terrorize America and their own country. Yeah, ok, it can be "just a job". But someones gotta do it.
Anyways, I'm in the Navy, going for a special ops contract as an EOD Tech

Let's not start an issue here man, everyone can have their own opinions regardless of how me and you feel about them. Good for you and the Navy though! Congratulations and good luck!

I think washing dishes and firefights are a bit different but, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

I was disqualified from enlisting due to medical issues but I'd serve if asked.

I'm sorry to heat that. When I went to MEPS, I was shocked at how thoroughly they checked everything, your medical record basically has to be perfect, lol
Edit: actually, basically all of your records have to be perfect. It's very stressful, lmao

This is one way to start a argument.
Me along with quite a few others have served and are active duty on this site.
Being a officer, and being a soldier are TWO completely different things. You don't see officers going across the globe to be in a different territory for a term do you? No.
Learn what the **** you're talking about before you speak, and yes plenty of people genuinely go up to officers and thank them daily. But you wouldn't know that would you?
Sure everyone is entitled to their own opinions I get that, but some things should be kept to themselves.
Bring the hate it always happens
EDIT: let me add on a little more, see i wouldn't have gotten as mad if you would've said it differently.
Comparing law enforcement to active duty military is something you do NOT do.
You could've simply said that officers do not get enough respect for what they do, which isn't always a lot, but you never know..
