That could be the difference in the game, City will probably want to get a quick goal after half-time to "kill" Newcastle. If newcastle had got the goal, they would come out after HT with a boost.

in my opinion gouffran is in the way of the ball he had to move so that means that he is "active" in the play so its offside, im pretty sure that what the official rules say.
