So, I want to start a gaming youtube channel to entartain my friends and viewers I get. I used to record on my PC a while ago and it was completely ok not dropping more than 20 FPS while recording. I wanted to record some COD4 that I run on 120+ FPS constant not dropping below that, but now when I try recording it limits my FPS to 15 and the footage is super bad and choppy.
I tried: -Switching from win 8.1 to win7 -Reinstalling/updating GPU drivers -Clearing my PC completely -Reinstalling windows completely once again -All mainstream recording software (Bandicam, Fraps, Dxtory, OBS) -All the possible codecs, settings etc... Could anyone help me or explain me how to fix the 15 FPS limit thing? It doesnt matter how much FPS I run the game at such as COD4 on 120, it always drops to 15 and does not go higher and its super choppy. |

Fellow COD4 player https://www.thetechgame.com/images/chat/smiles/hype.png
I'd assume when you're recording, it's tanking your CPU which tanks your FPS. I'd recommend using either Shadowplay [Nvidia] or ReLive [AMD] This will use your GPU when recording and won't affect CPU nearly as much as other onscreen recorders. Use Shadowplay if you have a Nvidia GPU and ReLive if you have a AMD GPU |

always use gpu encoding not cpu encoding, cpu encoding takes fps as it will use all remaining cpu power, also a original cod 4 player as well, what are you using if obs change the encoding to nvec or whatever its called or whatever amd uses, or you can use shadow play which i wouldnt suggest as it isnt as customization as obs, also windows 10 helped quite a bit but i wouldnt suggest using that garbage os anytime soon even if it helps with older bugs |

I use xSplit and my FPS doesn't drop one bit. Also, try turning vsync off if you haven't already. |
