The Nintendo Switch 2 is one of gaming's worst-kept secrets. Nintendo has alluded to it multiple times, confirming it will be revealed this fiscal year. The company has also begun to wind down its Switch release schedule, and there have been countless rumors about specs, price, release date, and form factor.

While many of the previous rumors are likely to be debunked, especially given how well Nintendo keeps its secrets, we may have just seen our first piece of majorly plausible evidence, as a Chinese case manufacturer has reportedly sent a mock-up version of the Switch 2 to a YouTuber.

The video comes from Prominent Nintendo Switch YouTuber SwitchUp, who claims to have been sent a 3D printed version of the Nintendo Switch 2 that a case manufacturer used to help design its cases.

The case manufacturer, which became the second company to have a Switch 2 case leak, sent a copy of its products to SwitchUp. It confirmed it hadn't received an actual copy of Nintendo's new hardware but was instead working off of the specifications it received.

The mock-up SwitchUp received came with a screen protector, which the YouTuber compared to the original Switch. This protector seemingly confirmed that the Switch 2 would be significantly larger than its predecessor, roughly "half an inch on each side," SwitchUp said.

They claim that the "version" of the Switch 2 they were sent is roughly the same thickness and has a similar feeling to the original, with the cartridge slot a similar size and in the same place, which, if true, would confirm the backward compatibility rumors. The new console will also reportedly have a USB-C port on the top, fixing one of the Nintendo Switch's most annoying problems.

Finally, SwitchUp compared both sets of Joy-Cons, which, aside from being larger and slightly more curved, were exactly the same.

While plausible, it's definitely worth taking this information with a pinch of salt. Although the manufacturer could have received the specifications, it may not have received an image of the product. Instead, the design could have been based on a combination of the original Switch and the dimensions it received from Nintendo. Either way, exciting times are coming.
